Large 20m2+/210sq ft antique carreaux de ciment floor 1903

A large, classical French carreaux de ciments floor dated 1903 in black, grey and white reclaimed from a village house in the Nievre, Burgundy.

These 20cm sq and 2.5cm thick tiles have a wonderfully rich time-worn patina as the high resolution photographs show and the geometric form of a framed star and rose is complimented by a same size domino and diamonds border. The design is unmistakingly period French.

The tiles have been cleaned of their old mortar and wax and are now in their matt state, requiring a sealing or waxing once relaid to both protect the tiles and to add lustre. Being carreaux de ciments they are suitable only for indoor use.

There are 90 border tiles with 6 corner tiles (19+ linear metres / 63 linear ft) and c.395 field tiles.
