Impressive 10.75m2 / 117 sq. ft Belgian Art Nouveau floor

An impressive Belgian ceramic art nouveau floor in a cool palette of mid grey, blue and green on an off-white slip. The principal field tile and same size border are testimony to the magnificence of early art nouveau period design as the two complimentary motifs tessellate and link across each four tile lay.

The main field tile and same size border are 15cm square and the half size border, floral in its theme, can possibly be laid to top and tail the large border although we have shown it singularly in the photo gallery.

The floors surface totals 10.75m2 / 115 sq.ft.

The tiles are reverse stamped PCSR, having been produced by Societe Anonyme Produits Ceramiques St Remy-Chimay, a heritage Belgian ceramic producer established close to the Belgian city of Chimay. A photograph of the tile factory, now long since closed is shown as well as a scan of the tiles as they appeared in their original catalogue.

The floor has cleaned very well and arrives ready to relay. Some tiles bear groutable small chips or edge nibbles but this is a quality, heavy ceramic with a good slip with each tile being c.15mm thick and weighing close to 1kg. The product of being highly fired it can be laid inside or outside of the home and will work very effectively with underfloor heating systems.
