Handmade antique Boch Freres octagon ceramics, late 19th century
A small number of antique handmade Boch Freres de Maubeuge ceramic floor tiles with their original cabochons, perfect as a floor feature or a splashback in a kitchen or bathroom, in a shower, laid in a small porch etc..
The main field tile is an octagon; white with sky blue piping it is connected by a burgundy cabochon (or tile insert) which bears a floral motif in mustard. The floor offers up a simple and pure tessellation. All tiles are in surface relief, providing perfect anti-slip traction. The ceramic of these heavy 17cm, 1.75cm thick tiles is superb having been handmade in two's between 1875 and 1878 and the removal of years of dirt and old wax now reveal crisp colours, no surface wear and with the exception of a few tiles bearing edge nibbles and small chips the tiles are in outstanding condition.
Suitable for laying inside or outside of the home.
If your surface area requirement is larger than this floor we do have border tile options available to frame it.
Octagon tiles - 16 tiles
Cabochons - 24 tiles
Size of panel in photographs is 68.5cm x 68.5cm
NOTE:- Given the small surface available and the weight involved of c.30kgs, the likelihood is that a purchase of the floor would only be economically viable as part of a larger consolidated order or to UK by courier. The option to collect or organise your own transport is also possible.
