Gilliot Hemiksem small Entrance Hall floor c.1920
A small, complete, 6.5m2 / 70 sq ft Belgian ceramic encaustic floor recovered from the hallway of a Town House in Norden, Lower Saxony, Germany. The style of the floor and the house period date the floor c.1920. The tiles were produced by Gilliot Hemiksem.
The principal field tiles are 14.5cm sq, with a same size border tile in a black, grey and dark red palette framed by a duplicate half size border tile of a design influenced by the principal field tiles.
