c.23m2 / 246 sq ft antique Belgian ceramic in a cool palette
A beautiful and complete antique ceramic floor, manufactured by Societe Anonyme Produits Carrelages St Remy-Ghislainin the early part of the 20th century, of a classical geometric Cross & Star themed tessellation and in a cool palette of greys, charcoal, off-white and blue. Both the principal field tiles and the border, which can either be laid singularly or back to back, are 15cm sq and 15mm thick. There are a large number of border tiles with the floor, for which 4 internal and 3 external border corner pieces are present, although the missing corner can easily be mitre cut from free reject border tiles we will supply. We have included a scan in the gallery of the page from the original period catalogue offering the tile.
This is a fine, quality ceramic from a heritage producer which has cleaned superbly and arrives ready to relay. A highly fired tile, it can be laid inside or outside of the home.
The total surface is c.22.7m2 / 244 sq. ft although there are also a further 84 similar tiles* available with the floor, which can augment the surface to c.24.8m2 / 267 sq.ft.
* Again, these are a St Ghislain tile, which was laid as a section between rooms in the original floor lay. The tile is different in two respects:-
1) it is slightly smaller at c.14.8cm sq
2) the star motif is in blue and grey, complimenting the main border tile of the floor. We include some photographs of this tile alongside the floors principal tile and the floors borders. They can be taken optionally with the main floor as your choice.
Tile counts by tile type:-
FIELD TILES 785 - 17.7m2 / 190.5 sq ft
BORDER TILES* 216 plus 7 corners - 5m2 / 54 sq ft
*33.5 linear metres single lay or 16.7 linear metres back to back - 110 ft and 55 ft respectively
