Beautiful Villeroy-Boch ceramic panel - 1886
Dated 1886 and produced by the multiple award winning Mosaik-Fabrik Von Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach, we include in the gallery scans from their period catalogue showing the tiles.
Reclaimed from the floor of a church in the suburbs of Brussels, Belgium the design detail of these handmade 16.7cm / 6.7 inch sq tiles is impressive and they have restored beautifully revealing a quality ceramic of a rich and warm palette. We include some photos of the panel pre-lifting and one of the interior of the church.
We have laid out and photographed a smaller section of the panel as the total available is longer, making photography difficult. As can be seen in the gallery the photos show 4 internal motifs which are then completed by four unique tiles at each end. The total tiles available in fact provides for the two panel ends and 16 internal motifs.
The total dimensions of the panel is 670cm x 33.4cm or 264 inches x 13 inches.
Perfect as a decorative statement it can be laid on floors or walls. On floors, framed by a modern ceramic or antique wood. On walls, as a kitchen or bathroom splashback or, in a commercial environment, posed on the face of a restaurant or cafe bar.
