Antique French Sand & Cie border tiles
These large, 15.5cm square ceramic encaustic border tiles were manufactured by Sand et Cie at the beginning of the last century, 17mm thick, they weigh 1.1 kilos each.
Daisy themed, they can be laid as singles or back to back, as shown in the photographs.
We have included a scan below from the original period catalogue we have in our possession showing the tiles.
Perfect to frame a small floor of antique parquet or a modern ceramic. Optionally, as a double lay, back to back, they would make a striking and practical feature as a splashback behind a kitchen surface run, sink or bath.
As a highly fired tile they can be laid inside or outside of the home, so the floral theme would lend itself to laying in a conservatory, sunroom or patio.
The tiles have cleaned superbly of their old wax and mortar as a random sample of the tiles below show. Colours are excellent and the ceramic robust.
There are 67 of the borders providing a surface area of 1.6m2 or 10.4 linear metres / 34 feet.
Given the weight of 74 kilos it is likely UK will be the only viable destination economically via courrier unless part of a larger order.
