Antique French ceramic floor c.1915 - richly stylised in warm reds
An ornate, rich and warm antique ceramic French floor dated c.1915, totaling over 12m2 / 130 sq ft. Warm colours of burnt red and mustard are immediately apparent in the stylised feather themed design and the palette is completed by teal and cream, which are present on the tiles wheat coloured background. The floor has three borders in its layout; a large border tile in a classical geometric chain link design of complimentary colours and a plainer and softer half size border tile, again in burnt red and mustard, to frame it top and bottom. This is a richly designed and ornate floor that would add lustre, warmth and a talking point to any room it adorned. The tiles are 14cm sq / 5 1/2 inches sq, with the exception of the half size border tile, and are in very good condition. They have all been cleaned of their original mortar to the reverse and sides and have been steam cleaned one by one to remove old wax and dirt. The colours are as rich now as when they were when fired decades ago.
There are c.9m2 of principal tiles and 3.1m2 of border plus the required corner pieces. The large border tiles total 11+ linear metres in length and the small, 22+ linear metres.
