Antique ceramic encaustic floral themed Belgian floor - c.1910 - 11.5m2+
A pretty 11.5m2+ / 125 sq ft antique ceramic encaustic floor dated c.1910, reclaimed from a Maison Maitre in Charleroi, Belgium along with floor reference CE100.
The 15cm sq tiles are on a fond of sky blue and are floral themed in what appears to be a ring of yellow chrysanthemums and the main field tile is complimented by a double lay border tile for which all the internal and external corner pieces are present and correct.
The floor condition is good, as the high resolution photographs detail; the ceramic is excellent with a small number of tiles displaying edge nibbling and small groutable chips, the colours are consistent and the overall patina rich and pleasing.
The floor arrives cleaned and ready to relay. Being ceramic it will not require sealing and waxing is an option only if you desire to add a soft sheen to lift the colours further. The tiles can be laid inside or outside of the home, outside presenting numerous options to link house and garden as there are obvious visual links with the dominant blue and floral theme to sky and garden. Inside the home they can technically work very efficiently with underfloor heating systems as ceramic encaustic tiles are excellent retainers and conductors of heat.
