9.75m2 / 105 sq ft antique French damier floor in biscuit and charcoal
9.75m2 of antique French carreaux de ciment tiles dating from the early twentieth century of a traditional chessboard, damier lay. In a butterscotch / biscuit and charcoal the tiles are 20cm sq and +/- 2cm thick, weighing around 1.5 kilos each. After a professional cleaning, removing old mortar and wax, the patina on display is beautifully rich and time worn with small chips and edge nibbles apparent as the high resolution photographs below show. Being a ciment based tile and cured rather than fired the tiles are suitable only for internal laying and should be sealed once laid to protect them and assist in cleaning. We provide the clear sealant free of charge. A classical floor for the purist.
