9.25m2 / 100 sq ft of late 19th century floor tiles
A classical, subtle, geometric antique French floor tile in a framed cross theme these carreaux de ciments paves date from the late 19th century.
The tiles have been recovered from a town house close to the city of Montpellier in Languedoc, South France and are 16.5cm sq 6 1/4 inches sq. The tile fond is light grey with mid grey, burnt red and orange completing the palette.
A professional cleaning of old mortar and years of wax means the tile is now in its matt state and will require sealing and/or waxing once relaid. Being carreaux de ciments they are suitable only for indoor use unless you live in a climate where there is no risk of freezing and thawing.
The tiles are in good condition as the high resolution photographs show.
