7.5m2 French Art Deco Hallway Floor with twin border tiles
A small, antique French hallway floor dated 1931 in a striking art deco geometric design with twin borders; one same size and one half size border tile. The tiles are 14cm sq in a palette of sky blue, burgundy and cream with green and yellow piping and detailing present.
The floor has been recovered from a town house in the Champagne region of France and the large number of border tiles available is the result of the floor being originally laid as long narrow entrance hallway, where the field tiles were only laid 4 tiles wide (two motifs). A photograph of the floor pre-lifting in the hallway is below. Its original laying does not preclude other laying options and we are more than happy to assist in recommending alternative options for a same surface area.
The floor is cleaned of all its old mortar to the reverse and sides and old wax has been removed from the faces of the tiles, so they arrive ready to relay. Being ceramic the tiles are suitable for internal or external use for example as a front garden path.
