6.7m2 ornate ceramic French floor with original borders c.1915-1920
A 6.7m2 /73 sq ft antique French ceramic tile dating from between 1915 and 1920 this is a floor rich in detail and in a proud palette of putty, burgundy, greens and sky blue with white piping. It comes with its original same size 14cm sq borders which can be laid either in duplicate or as we have here, for the photographs, as a single lay. Two of the border corner tiles are present but the missing ones (indeed as many as you need) can be easily mitre cut.
The floor has cleaned beautifully and the 125mm thick tiles have a deep slip with consistent colours. There is no surface wear although a small number of tiles display edge nibbling and occasionally a small chip. The high resolution photographs are an accurate random representation of the whole floor.
This floor cries out to be the hero in a room, its indulgent and intriguing and we think would work well with both period and modern fixtures and furnishings.
The floor will not require sealing or waxing once laid and a regular washing is all that is needed to maintain its beauty.
