4m2 antique French ceramic floor with same size and half size borders

A small, 4m2 / 43 sq ft antique French ceramic floor complete with its same size and half size border tiles.

The ceramic of these 14.2cm square tiles is superb, the design ornate and bold with the main field tile framed by a large border which can be laid in two ways, photographic options for which we have provided below.  This was a filthy floor, reclaimed from a kitchen in Charleloi, Belgium with the surfaces showing years of grime, wax and on some tiles a thin layer of cement. Having been professionally cleaned the colours have come to life superbly as can be seen in the photographs below with an autumnal palette lifted by mid blue and teal. The patina is lovely, there is no surface wear and a small number of tiles display small grout-able chips and edge nibbling which all adds to the antique lived in charm of the floor.

This is a small floor but nevertheless one that would be a talking point in any room and of course, given its ornate and rich design, it could be laid on a wall in a bathroom, on a patio outside or as a carpet style feature in a larger room or area.

The floor will not require sealing once laid and a simple regular washing is all that is needed to maintain its beauty.

Field tiles – 130

Large border tiles 46 (3 corner tiles, one need mitre cutting) – 6.5 linear metres / 21.4 linear ft

Half size borders - 60 (4 corner tiles) – 8.5 linear metres / 28 linear ft.
