An excellent quality French ‘Boch Freres – Maubege’ ceramic encaustic floor dated 1905 totalling 17m2 / 180 sq ft, reclaimed from a large Town House close to Amiens Cathedral.
The floor, with its original same size and half size border tiles, is in a pallette of moss and mint greens on cream with subtle grey piping. The high resolution photographs reveal some fine shadow detail in these ceramic encaustic tiles design; graceful and subtle but with considerable impact on the floors tessellation.
The tiles are 15cm sq with half size border tiles 15cm x 7.5cm.
470 field tiles, 142 large border tiles with a full contingent of all four corner pieces and 270 small border tiles with all eight corners present.
