12.25m2 of classical Paray Le Monial antique French ceramic tiles c.1900
One of two floors reclaimed from the same house in Amiens, northern France this is a tile embracing a simple and pure design of two adjacent motifs which, when laid, produces an easy on the eye classical tessellation.
These 14.2cm square tiles were produced by Paray Le Monial in the early part of the twentieth century. The tile fond is off-white and the two complimenting motifs and banding are in mid-grey with a darker grey piping.
The tiles have cleaned very well, as the high resolution photographs below show. Edge nibbles and the occasional small chip are evident but the condition is very good and the colours consistent with no surface wear. Being a highly fired ceramic tile they can be laid inside or outside of the home, where high summer or sub zero temperatures will not be problematic, and they can be used most efficiently with under-floor heating systems. A dense ceramic they do not require sealing once laid (waxing is always a personal choice) with only a regular washing required to retain their beauty.
We may have some options available to supply complimentary border tiles for the floor – enquire for details and photographs.
