11.5m2+ of antique ceramic Perusson tiles in a traditional chessboard
11.5m2 / 120 sq ft of antique French ceramic tiles reclaimed from the renovation of a farmhouse close to Auxerre, Burgundy. The 14.5cm sq tiles were made locally by Perusson, a period manufacturer of ceramic floor tiles and terracotta roof tiles, with their production facilities along the Canal de Bourgogne in Saone et Loire. The lay is a traditional French damier design featuring a plain terracotta and a plain cream tile with a hint of yellow.
The floor is in good condition, a small number of tiles display edge nibbles or small chips but there is little surface wear and the tiles have cleaned very well, arriving ready to relay. All ceramic encaustic tiles are excellent conductors and retainers of heat but being only 1cm thick these will be particularly efficient with an underfloor heating system. Optionally, as they are highly fired, they can be laid outside of the home, as an entrance pathway, on a patio or as a garden feature.
