11.25m2 Belgian ceramic floor with back to back borders
The design bears all the DNA of art nouveau styling and offers up some stunning detail and refinement. The palette is extensive with vieux rose, green, putty, burgundy and sky blue all present on a white slip.
This period Belgian ceramic encaustic floor has been reclaimed from the hallway of a house in Namur, Belgium and comes complete with its original same size back to back border tiles for which we have a full contingent of the four internal and four external border corners. The 14cm sq, 15mm thick tiles have cleaned superbly, as the photographs of a random section below show. There are groutable edge nibbles and occasional small chips evident and expected of a floor of this age but the ceramic is in excellent condition, the surfaces show no sign of wear and colours are crisp and consistent. Being a highly fired tile they can be laid inside or oustide of the home and given the large number of borders available there is the opportunity for this floor to sit as a carpet style feature in a larger room, framed by a plain complimentary tile or antique parquet.
The ceramic is dense and the tiles will not require sealing once laid, a simple regular wash is all that they will require, providing a practical covering in kitchen or bathroom. We would be happy, without obligation, to look at the potential fit for the floor in your chosen room.
