20m2+, Douzies Maubeuge Lily themed floor c.1920

Reclaimed from a town house in Auchy-Les-Mines, close to Douvrin in northern France, we have professionally cleaned this most unusual, unique and beautiful antique ceramic tile, restoring it to its original beauty when first laid.

The floor is bold with a strong lily themed design on a faux mosaic, opening up across a 4 and 8 tile tessellation. The lilies are white, the stems a leaf green and the main slip is tangerine.

There are two principal field tiles that are present in the floor athough only one, the lily themed one, is present in the photographs taken. The second field tile is included in the photo gallery and it can also be seen in the catalogue pages presented showing the many different ways the floor can be laid. There is also a half size border tile supplied with the floor and we have included photographs showing it.

The ceramic is excellent and the colours are consistent. The tiles were manufactured by Douzies Maubeuge in the 1920's.

Having been fully cleaned and arriving ready to relay the patina is very beautiful; some tiles have the ocassional edge nibble and small groutable chip but are in excellent condition owing to a quality slip.

The tiles are 15cm sq and 15mm thick and the total surface is 20m2+ / 215 sq ft.

We may be able to sell a section of this floor to your requirement. Simply let us know the number of field tiles required or optionally, if you send a floor plan with key dimensions, we would be happy to calculate that for you without obligation.
