An impressive c.22m2 handmade Boch Freres ceramic floor with cabachons

One of four floors recently reclaimed from the same house this handmade ceramic encaustic Boch Freres floor was manufactured in Maubeuge, France in the latter part of the 19th century. The floor consists of a 17cm square field tile with a same size border and a half size border, which is also used across the tile tessellation as a framing tile, complemented by a linking cabachon. The palette is cool and calm with mid grey and mushroom present  in addition to the introduction of vanilla on both the small and large borders and the flower accent on the main decorative field tiles. This is a superb thick ceramic from a heritage manufacturer, in excellent condition with only small number of tiles displaying edge nibbling or small groutable chips.

The original field tile lay was a 45 degree to border lay, which we have replicated in the photographs below and we have recovered a large number of the triangle cut tiles present with the floor. Additionally, as it is a question of preference, we have also shown the floor as a square to border layout. Based on your rooms dimensions we can, without obligtion, look at the tile fit. The floor has cleaned superbly and the high resolution photographs below are of a random section totalling around 1.5m2.

Being a highly fired tile, they can be laid inside or outside of the home and will work efficiently with underfloor heating systems.

We are in the latter stages of restoring the floor and the indicative surface area is c.21.5m2 to 22m2 with the anticipated final tile counts below:-
