12m2 Antique French ceramic floor with original same size borders (CH2)
An antique French ceramic floor, from the early part of the twentieth century, complete with its original same size border tiles, now professionally cleaned of its old mortar and years of dirt and wax. The floor has been reclaimed from the reception room of a farmhouse in La Couture in the Pas de Calais region of northern France. Totalling 12m2 / 130 sq ft the 14.5cm sq field tiles offer two motif's across a four tile tessellation in a palette of mid grey, mustard, sky blue, mint green and burgundy. The same size borders take from the same colour scheme but offer a more geometrical design, opening across two tiles, ideal visually for framing the floor. All four corner pieces for the borders are available.
The floor is in good condition, arriving ready to relay; the colours are crisp and consistent and there is no surface wear to the slip. A few tiles bear occasional groutable edge nibbles and small chips as can be seen in the high resolution photographs below of a random sample of the floor.
These are highly fired tiles which can be laid inside or outside of the home as high summer and below zero winter temperatures will not have any effect on the tiles functionality. As excellent retainers and distributors of heat they can also be used with underfloor heating systems.
