c.16m2+ of antique ceramic burgundy and cream tiles

SOLD   SOLD   SOLD   c.16m2+ of antique French burgundy and cream 14cm sq ceramic tiles, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The tiles have been recovered from a renovation project in the Nord Pas de Calais area of France.

The tiles are +/- 1.2cm thick and are reverse marked ‘St Just de Beauvais’, Beauvais being a key centre in France for the production of ceramic tiles at the turn of the last century.

Having an exquisite patina they are ideal for the creation of a classic damier kitchen floor or entrance hallway and arrive cleaned of old mortar and wax, ready to re-lay and can work with underfloor heating systems.

Owing to the original layout of the burgundy tiles framing the room there are c.12m2 of burgundy tiles and c.6.2m2 of cream tiles, totalling over 18m2 of surface. The floor is sold as 16m2, with any tiles displaying larger chips supplied free (some clients prefer a floor with a richer, time worn patina with tiles with larger chips laid within a floor).

Being ceramic they can also be used outside, for example as an entrance pathway, or in a porch area of a Victorian town house or Villa.

We will consider splitting the lot based on your requirements – eg. 4m2 of burgundy and 4m2 of cream on a price per sq metre basis
