Beautiful and practical, a welcoming Berlin house entrance (SU1)

Beautiful and practical, a welcoming Berlin house entrance

This large antique French ceramic, manufactured by Octave Colozier in 1913, was supplied by The Antique Floor Company for this period Berlin home. It has been laid to great effect in the front raised entrance area of the house, replacing a tired modern ceramic with a truly unique and complimentary antique ceramic.

We were delighted to not only supply the fully restored floor but assist our client with the layout, most notably the best use of the lush border tiles.

Ceramic encaustic tiles can be laid inside or outside of the home as, being highly fired, they are resistant to high summer and sub-zero winter temperatures. Being a dense ceramic, they do not require sealing, providing not only a beautiful solution but also a highly practical one, as a regular wash is all they require to maintain their beauty.

The photographs show the area before the work commenced, the lay in progress and the finished lay. More details of the floor supplied by us can be found here
